Nutrients and Fertilizers kits

A smart gardener knows the difference between beneficiary nutrients and fertilizers. In today’s article, we will discuss the difference between nutrients kits and fertilizer kits and how they can benefit our garden. In school, we are taught that plants are autotrophs that make their food from the sun and environment around. But what does this environment consists of? This environment consists of nutrients that help plant food to make protein, vitamins, and other necessary elements for the plants.

What are the nutrients?

Nutrients are like plant food that turns sugar and carbohydrates into essential elements like protein, vitamin, etc so that the plant can grow and protect themselves from diseases.

What are fertilizers?

As discussed above, the environment consists of nutrients that form essential elements. Fertilization means providing the plant environment with those elements directly. Fertilizers are the chemicals that we provide our plants with.

What is a nutrient kit?

Nutrition is providing plants with food. A nutrient kit will feed your plants with sugars and carbohydrates by providing them with the right sort of nutrients.

What is a fertilizer kit?

A fertilizer kit will balance the environment around the plants to let them absorb the right kind of elements like nitrogen, phosphorus, boron, cobalt, potassium, etc.

Are nutrients and fertilizers kits the same?

Although, they are called interchangeably, however, there is a difference. As said above, a nutrient kit is for providing the plant with plant food whereas fertilizer kit will provide essential elements to help plants make their food.

What are the essential elements that these kits have?

There are macro and micronutrients needed by plants to grow and be disease-free. These nutrients make plants stronger and keep roots in the best health. The common elements and their benefits are:

Element

Benefit

Sulfur
Chlorophyll formation
Potassium
Reduces plant stress
Nitrogen
Photosynthesis
Phosphorus
Photosynthesis
Calcium
Strength for proper nutrient transport
Boron
Aids the production of sugar and carbohydrates
Chlorine
Boosts metabolism
Copper
Reproductive Health

What are the different kinds of fertilizers?
Fertilizers are basically of two kinds: organic and inorganic. Organic are the ones that are made up of compost and inorganic are direct chemicals that you buy from the market. Both organic and inorganic have their advantages and disadvantages. Organic fertilizers are quite inexpensive but can aid the growth of pathogens. Inorganic are expensive but have lower risks of infections.
Is there something as over-fertilization?
Yes, there is. This is when you fertilize your plant environment too much. In the case of organic fertilizers due to over-fertilization, bacterial growth boosts up and roots may get damaged due to extra moisture. In the case of inorganic fertilization, roots may get burned up and plants may get weaker. They say too much of anything is dangerous, well, they are right.
Should you buy a nutrient/fertilizer kit?
Well, a soil test will help you decide what your environment is lacking and then you can provide your soil with the necessary kind of nutrients.
Conclusion: There is a difference between a nutrient and a fertilizer kit. However, their motive is the same: boosting up plant growth. There are different kinds of fertilizers in the market that can provide necessary elements to our plants. One should not over-fertilize their garden as this can beat up the plant growth and harm them. Whether or not you should buy a kit for your plants depends upon the soil composition of your plants’ environment.
